Knowing that, after ~2 years, I've still only seen 70% of what the entire game has to offer.

My playstyle.
I personally attempt to do everything in the game (i.e. missions, quests, areas) solo without heroes or henchmen on each of my five characters. The challenge in doing this is immense but extremely gratifying.
In addition, I play one character solely through a campaign beginning to end (with all quests and elite skill caps in between) before I think about touching another character. That gets me fully immersed in the intricacies of that character without going ADHD on all my other guys. It's almost a new game experience whenever I start a campaign with one of my characters as I need to "relearn" many of the techniques that I had developed for that character the last time I played with them (sometimes it's over 9 months before I touch one again).
Those two factors keep Guild Wars almost as fresh as the day I bought the game over 3 years ago.

I like running with guildies and I also like helping out newbies... Not that i am the most experienced player... I don't help beggers and people like that. But if i see someone who really wants to work for their own i will help them with their builds, attribute point placement (really common issue for newbies). I don't give em money, but i will show them how to make some. Or give them stuff to clear out my inventory that i just don't feel like taking the time to sell myself.

I live in the middle of nowhere so the social contact with my guild keeps me playing, that and having nothing better to do.

I've been playing ~2yrs now and have hit that brick wall a few times myself. What helped me is finding the right mix of people to keep me motivated to play. I am in a great guild and one person in particular always has this and that crazy idea in her head about some new idea or some new title she wants, of course I get sucked into and have a ball with it. I've also met a few non guild people who are on my friends list now and even though I may have nothing to work on at the moment I'll go help them and have some laughs and some fun along the way.
I use to go guildless because the few I had been in were rather tedious to say the least. But once I found the right one, the game felt all new again. Even if it was something I had already done, going back to Vizunah to help a guildie through it became a treat, or getting a group up to go kill Rotscale "just because" really added to it, and I think the companionship helped a lot. I never believed it until it happened, but I do think it is the human side of the game that kept me in it.

The only thing keeping any long time GW player is titles at the moment, and working on your own Hall of Monuments... or the occassional farming to make money. But all that eventually gets boring.
Personally, I am getting to the point where everything is getting boring, and I don't even play all that much to begin with. Sometimes I log into Guild Wars just because there is nothing else to do, and end up logging back out with in 10 minutes because there is nothing that I would really have fun doing at the moment. I really think that people are going to start falling out of Guild Wars rather fast, knowing there is 2 years until GW2. If there is no more Campaigns or Expansions to hold us out until then, I don't know what will. Little in-game changes and festivals will not be enough to hold all the players around until then. Eventually Guild Wars will be a huge ghost town. Knowing all this, and for some reason, I am expecting them to give us another suprise Expansion to keep us playing, otherwise they will fail at keeping players around.
No more expansions or campaigns = death of GW.

Lack of interest in learning a new game. When I started playing GW I was mixed up in 3 games, Unreal Tournament, Day of Defeat and Guild Wars (GG time!) but UT and DoD have totally died in the interim, leaving GW as the only game I have to play.

Ive beat prophecies and factions, with a warrior and assassin. Im still working on Nightfall with my Dervish, so that keeps me busy. Right now im in the desolation. But if im not playing my ranger on prophecies, I do runs with my warrior and farm most of the time just to keep me entertained.

I've been playing since day 1 of Prophecies release. The only reason I'm still playing is because there are no other games out that interest me right now.
That will change when Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 come out, at which point, GW2 better be damn good if it wants to get equal share of my gaming time...

Meh. I play only for lulz on RA. Other than that:
PvE - Ragnarok Online/Diablo 2.
PvP - RO/Enemy Territory
Thinking - Sometimes Starcraft/Warhammer.
Epic Lulz - Overlord/Simpsons H'n'R.

So to answer your question, my Guild is what has kept me in the game.
I didn’t play GW until several months after Factions came out and I am not much of a gamer.
Then I became addicted, and bought all the GW when they came out. But with minimal time to spend, I am still slowly progressing through GW missions and quests. I initially enjoyed making new characters, getting them to level 20, and playing the missions with heros and henchies.
Well, I still wanted to do the quests and missions by myself, but I was lonely and wanted to be around nice folks. So went looking for a guild that seemed to fit my style.
So to answer your question, my Guild is what has kept me in the game.
My guild leader is a gentle spirit that keeps every one respectful of each other. I play PvE on my own but the folks are still around to add spice to the game. We have a good mix of young and not so young and we enjoy each other’s company.
I have even thought I might ask for help on those missions were I am stuck, maybe as a celebration for my birthday…………but not just yet, I enjoy the challenge of trying to figure out why I can’t beat a mission.
